What is the CONVISO® SMART technology?
CONVISO® SMART is an innovative weed control system for sugar beet.
The CONVISO® SMART system consists of the following combination:
- CONVISO® SMART sugar beet varieties, which are tolerant to the herbicide CONVISO® ONE
- Bayer’s CONVISO® ONE herbicide: an ALS-inhibitor broad-spectrum herbicide
How does the CONVISO® SMART technology work?
In CONVISO® SMART sugar beet varieties, the herbicide is unable to bind to the enzyme
involved in the synthesis of the branched-chain amino acids valine, leucine, and isoleucine.
This means that ALS-tolerant sugar beets are unaffected by the herbicide and continue to
grow normally.
